Volunteer Week Thanks Volunteers, for your help during Volunteer Week! The patent books have been organized and the shelves filled. The Abbey library including magazines, journals, and books is beginning to take shape. The posts have been mortised for the front porch of the heated space. The posts were hewn to continue the Arts and Crafts theme of the building. The old Abbey barn is much cleaner, and tools and hardware in Carroll's wood shop are better organized. The second cutting of alfalfa was baled and put away without any hitches, and harvest from the market garden was made easy with more hands. The manure is out of the barn and in the fields. The blacksmith shop is reorganized and much more tidy with steel sorted and more racks made to store it. We were unable to call everyone on our list of 1,200, but we hope that you can attend next year's Volunteer Week. Although we have not set up exact dates, it will be some time in August. Thanks so much: Chuck Andrews, Clint Bolton, Paul Carlson, Emmore Dent, Nathan Durham,
Sharon Dykstra, Rick Gutierrez, Andy Hirzel, Arnie Hoye, Bob Kellogg,
Paul McGuire, Beth Murphy, Bill Morgan, Ron Smith, If you would like to volunteer, there is plenty of opportunity, don't hesitate to call. Harvest and Farm tasks are ongoing, and there is work to do on the buildings and in the shops. |
