In this time of economic and environmental uncertainty, the value of old-time knowledge and hand skills resurges. Home food production and skills for self-sufficiency show the fastest recent growth in interest of any of Tillers' classes and programs. Tillers' is expanding its selection of homesteading skills and classes to include activities such as caning and preserving food, home wine making, home herbals, and an expanded cheesemaking program.
The new Cook's Mill Creamery (coming soon!) and goat dairy will be the shining star of our Food & Fiber program, as its first permanent facility. Tillers' cheese classes will survey everything from cheesemaking in your kitchen, to running a small commercial cheesemaking facility, to raising a small herd of milk goats.
