Named in honor of long-time Tillers instructor, Herb Nehring, Tillers' Herb Nehring Blacksmith Shop creates the ideal atmosphere for blacksmiths and metal workers to gather and exchange knowledge and inspiration. With six coal forges, one gas forge, and twelve anvils, each student engages continuously in hands-on learning. Blacksmithing classes are limited to 12 students to guarantee that every students gets their own anvil.
Work stations are strategically configured with one forge between two anvils. Students work at the anvil while facing the interior of the shop, in plain view of the instructor for safety and convenient coaching. An additional room houses Tillers' machining tools, used for farm projects and tool making classes.
