Repoussé is a centuries-old technique for decorative metal work that turns a flat piece of metal into a detailed three dimensional sculpture using a simple hammer and tools. The first day, get right into the techniques and tools and raise your own simple design. The second day will add toolmaking and chasing techniques. Then back to the bench to turn out a more advanced and detailed repoussé piece. Each day, have a decorative low relief sculpture that you can use to adorn a woodworking project or other item. This style of work can be used in jewelry making, blacksmithing, or many other decorative arts. Experiment with pitch-on-board repoussé and see a demonstration of stake repoussé. The Statue of Liberty is perhaps the most famous example of repoussé. Product: one or two repoussé objects.
