Small Foundry Work and Pattern Making

Pour

Learn to cast aluminum in green sand molds. Begin with mixing your own sand and making a small furnace. Fuels, furnaces, and crucibles are discussed, and the challenges of patterns and molding are explored. Pack a flask with the mold and carefully pour the molten metal into it. Students learn different techniques for duplicating objects. Enjoy the experience and enthusiasm of great instructors. Bring a small, simple object for use as a casting pattern.

"[We] thought the class was excellent, with hands-on and visual teaching. We feel that we can continue to do home foundry work." -student, 2009

"[I] liked the variety of methods and castables. Both instructors are knowledgeable but from different approaches, which worked well. Good meals and atmosphere." -student, 2009
