Learn the basic bench metalworking skills (metalworking operations carried out with hand and non-precision power tools, except forging and welding) that form the foundation of your shop. Skills include identification and selection of materials, measuring and laying out work, sawing, drilling, tapping, filing, grinding, cold bending, tool selection, care, safe use, and more. These skills are useful in any home or business shop, as well as for anyone interested in working in international development, increasing your self-sufficiency for repair and fabrication. Class discussions and materials can be driven by student interest and backgrounds.
